Fort Valley police investigating possible shooting after home damaged

Chief Flores says officers were dispatched around 4:30 p.m., to the 700 block of Courtland Avenue in reference to a possible shooting.

FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Fort Valley Police Chief DJ Flores says police are investigating a possible shooting after a home was damaged by gunfire on Monday.

Chief Flores says officers were dispatched around 4:30 p.m., to the 700 block of Courtland Avenue in reference to a possible shooting.

Police say that’s where they met with people inside the home, some being high school aged students. According to the occupants, they heard what they thought was someone trying to kick their door in earlier in the day. They later learned the home was damaged by what appeared to be gunfire.

The Police Chief says officers have identified persons of interest, and the incident is currently being investigated.
