Forsyth Mayor Tye Howard Unseated by John Howard, II

In the Forsyth Mayoral race, incumbent Tye Howard lost to opponent John Howard, II.

John Howard got 58% of the votes, and Tye Howard lost with 42%.

Tonight at the Monroe County courthouse, celebration and congratulations as John Howard celebrates his victory over incumbent Tye Howard.

41NBC spoke with John Howard, who was completely surprised by his win,
but says he’s ready to lead the city of Forsyth.

“We just need to get people working, more geared toward technology and making alittle bit more money in their pockets so they can take a little bit more care of their families,” says the mayor elect. “To have the chance to get reinvolved in the community again…as a police officer I worked here in this community..this is my home and I love it, and I just wanted the chance to get back in and do some work in the community.”

Incumbent Tye Howard congratulated the mayor elect on his victory.

“The city doesn’t grow jobs–it grows opportunities,” the Mayor says, “and I hope that he’ll continue to work in all the literacy factors and directions that we can from within the school system to the work ready programs to the work ready special trainings, and also any economic development.”

Mayor Tye Howard’s campaign focused on education as a way to boost the local economy. He says he hopes the mayor elect will continue that vision, and help create more jobs for Forsyth.
