Rutland Hurricanes hoping to build on Week One win

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Coming into this season, the Rutland High School football team hadn’t won a game since October of 2023. That changed in a big way this past weekend as the Hurricanes put an end to that streak with a 54-6 victory over Crawford County.
“It was a big stress reliever for me, and a big pick-me-up for the kids and the staff,” Head Coach Dr. Anthony Williams said. “It meant a lot for them to go out there and play well. They’ve been preparing for that game since June 1st, and to go out there and execute the way they did, take advantage of the special teams, turnovers, and continue to press and press on in that heat, it meant a lot to us.”
The Hurricanes hope to build on last weekend’s win when they take on Westside this Friday night.
