Piedmont to host “Healthy Heart Screening” during American Heart Month

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Piedmont Macon is sharing tips and encouraging heart healthy habits for the community in honor of American Heart Month.

Piedmont will be hosting “Healthy Heart Screening” on February 20 at Piedmont Macon North Hospital, which is located at 400 Charter Blvd. The free event is open to the public from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Medical Building B’s Rehab Suite. Reservations are required.

The heart screenings will include:

  • A fasting lipid blood test to check cholesterol, triglycerides and A1C
  • Weight and body mass index checks
  • Hip-to-waist ratio checks
  • Blood pressure screenings
  • Screening for peripheral artery disease

According to a news release from Piedmont Macon, anyone interested in having bloodwork done at the event must fast (no food or drinks) beginning at midnight the night before.
