Sheriff: Two arrested in Bleckley County following K-9 alert

Bleckley County deputies arrested two people on drug charges Thursday after a traffic stop led to the discovery of suspected methamphetamine, according to Bleckley County Sheriff Daniel Cape.

COCHRAN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bleckley County deputies arrested two people on drug charges Thursday after a traffic stop led to the discovery of suspected methamphetamine, according to Bleckley County Sheriff Daniel Cape.

Deputies stopped a vehicle in Cochran that was suspected of involvement in drug distribution. The occupants, identified as 53-year-old Christopher Lynn Hollingsworth of Jeffersonville and 58-year-old Stephen Owen of Marietta, denied having drugs and refused to allow a search, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies say Sheriff’s K-9 Arlo was deployed and signaled a positive alert for illegal drugs in the vehicle. Deputies then searched the car and reported finding a bag containing suspected methamphetamine, along with additional substances in the pockets of the individuals during their arrests.

Hollingsworth and Owen were taken to the Bleckley County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center and charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of drug-related objects.

“Let this serve as a warning to others: distributing illicit substances in our county, regardless of quantity, will result in arrest and incarceration. Your poison is NOT wanted here,” Sheriff Cape stated in the release.
