Woman sentenced in deed fraud scheme, another man’s probation revoked for downtown Macon assault arrest
The Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office announced two major legal outcomes this week.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office announced two major legal outcomes this week.
According to a news release, Angela Jessie Spradley received a five-year prison sentence followed by 25 years of probation for orchestrating a deed fraud scheme that victimized multiple Bibb County property owners.
In a separate case, 49-year-old Maurice Monterial Williams had his probation revoked after being found guilty of violating its terms during a two-day hearing in Bibb County Superior Court.
Prosecutors say Spradley’s scheme involved filing fraudulent deeds for five properties between September and December 2021. She then sold three of the properties for $7,500 to an unsuspecting buyer. The case unraveled when a victim discovered her second home stripped of fixtures and equipped with a realtor’s lockbox, the office said.
“This case exemplifies our Office’s commitment to pursuing justice beyond the surface level,” said Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney Anita Howard. “When our team recognized the possibility of additional victims, they took the initiative to conduct a comprehensive property records search. This dedication led to the discovery of four more victims who might never have known they were targeted by this scheme.”
Spradley pleaded guilty on November 25, 2024, to a 32-count indictment that included charges of identity fraud, forgery in the first degree and theft by deception. As part of her sentence, she is banned from the Macon Judicial Circuit and has relinquished all claims to the affected properties, the office said.
In the other case, Williams was found guilty of violating his felony probation. He was originally sentenced to 12 years in prison with eight years of probation for a 2011 aggravated assault conviction and had been on probation since August 2022.
Prosecutors say Williams assaulted an unhoused woman, Te’arie Register, while she slept on a bench on MLK Jr. Boulevard in June 2024. Surveillance footage captured Williams standing over Register before the attack, which left her with severe facial injuries. Williams’ probation was revoked until 2031, and the assault case remains pending.
“When people have been given a chance for a better life through probation, we expect them to abide by the rules and move forward with their lives in a productive manner,” said District Attorney Howard. “When they choose to violate the terms of their probation, we will hold them accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”
