ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN/WSB)- Five people, including two children, were found dead in what police are calling a domestic-related murder-suicide at The Vineyards at Flat Shoals Apartments on Saturday night.

Officers responded to the scene around 7:30 p.m. for a welfare check and discovered the bodies of two young children and three adults. The adults were identified as a 26-year-old woman, a 43-year-old woman, and a 32-year-old man.

Neighbor Analyssa Rivera expressed her shock upon seeing the police tape and emergency lights. “I was out with my friends, and I just saw it taped out, so I got kind of nervous,” she said.

The crime scene, adorned with Christmas lights, became the focus of a five-hour investigation by DeKalb County detectives. Authorities have not confirmed the relationships between the victims but have labeled the incident as an apparent murder-suicide.

Rivera, who lives next door to the apartment, said the tragedy left her feeling anxious. “I literally live right next to it, and just to think that two kids could lose their life is kind of traumatizing because I didn’t hear anything,” she said.

She also reflected on the loss of the children, one of whom was reportedly one year old and the other five. “I have a godson who’s four, so when I heard that, my heart dropped,” Rivera said. “It’s heartbreaking because I could imagine how scared they were—just probably hopeless and can’t even do anything.”

While investigators work to piece together the events leading up to the deaths, neighbors are left reeling from the loss.

Authorities have yet to release additional details as the investigation continues.
