MONICA- Welcome back. Today we have Anita Hyland who’s running for Georgia House district 144. Thank you for being here today.

ANITA- Thank you for having me.

MONICA- I’m excited to have you. I have a few questions. First off, what are your main priorities that you plan to do if elected and how would you do that?

ANITA- What I’ve been hearing from the people is about childcare. That’s important, and elderly care because, you know people are getting up in age. Then also the inflation, now the inflation is, corporate have been making record profits. Okay, that’s not this. That’s not right. They took advantage of a situation. So I’m a see what I can do about that.

MONICA- Now why do you think you are the best person for this position if elected?

ANITA- I have no ulterior motives. I’m not in real estate. I don’t have a big business or nothing like that. I’m just an everyday person that never went to college. But I love the people. And we’re supposed to work for the people.

MONICA- Okay. Now, what is your viewpoint on record breaking voter turnout. What does that say to you about this election? How does that make you feel?

ANITA- I think it’s great because, the thing is about, you know, women’s rights. Okay. That is a big issue and a lot of you Republican women are going to vote differently. So that’s going to be a big, big, big turnout.

MONICA- And why is that so important to you as a woman? What do you want other voters to know when they’re voting and those topics?

ANITA- I’m here for women’s rights. Reproductive rights. I’m here for the people. Nothing else. I want to be representative, and I know they do, too.

MONICA- We talked about it earlier. You’ve been here for decades here in Georgia. This is your home. This is your community. Where you live, where you work, where you play. Why is that so important to you that you serve your community? And what does that mean to you, knowing that you get to serve your community?

ANITA- It is a great honor to serve my community. And I’ll say that it’s I’ve been here for, what, 31 years now? You have to be with the people and with what’s going on about. And I want to see you know what’s done, right, what the people want done.

MONICA- Okay. Now, if you’re elected, what would folks see from you once you are elected into office?

ANITA- They’re going to see me asking them what they want done. You know, it’s like it’s like men say roads. That’s what I get. Number one. Women say childcare. So I think these are two big issues right there.

MONICA- Now is there anything else that you want to tell voters before they cast their ballot for the upcoming election?

ANITA- That I will be for them. I will do whatever I can to get what they need and in office.

MONICA- Well, thank you so much for being here.
