Macon Regional CrimeStoppers thanks community for help, honors local law enforcement at annual luncheon

CrimeStoppers is a partnership between law enforcement, media, and the community.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) –Macon Regional CrimeStoppers held the annual Crimestoppers Community Luncheon. CrimeStoppers is a partnership between law enforcement, media, and the community.

The non-profit began in November of 2000. CrimeStoppers serves the following counties:

  • Baldwin
  • Bibb
  • Crawford
  • Houston
  • Jones
  • Monroe
  • Peach
  • Twiggs

Since the inception of CrimeStoppers, there have been 6,758 arrests, 13,446 warrants served, and 11,587 cases cleared.

Peach County Sheriff Terry Deese was honored at the luncheon for his dedication and service to his community. Sheriff Deese was elected in 2004, and took office in January of 2025.

Sheriff Deese was elected President of the Georgia Sheriff’s Association for 2017-2018 and named Sheriff of the year in 2017. Sheriff Deese will retire this year.

Sheriff Cullen Talton was also honored at the Crimestoppers Community Luncheon. Sheriff Talton was elected Sheriff in 1972 and served Houston County for more than five decades.

Sheriff Talton was the longest-serving Sheriff in the United States and died on October 19, 2024.

The Central High School GLEE Club performed the national anthem and Reverend Jada Sims gave the invocation.

Sgt. Greg Thomas spoke at the event and encouraged people to contact Macon Regional CrimeStoppers if they have an anonymous tip regarding anyone on the wanted list.
