19-year-old dead after vehicle crash in Macon, investigation underway

A minivan and motorcycle collided at the intersection of Jones Road at School Road.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A 19-year-old is dead after a crash that happened on Jones Road at School Road on Saturday, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Just before 1 p.m., a minivan and motorcycle collided at the intersection. The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital and was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to medical staff.

The motorcyclist was later identified as 19-year-old Christopher Allen Jr. A second motorist, a 44-year-old female, was uninjured.

Rodney Queen, a neighbor who has lived right across the street from the intersection for more than 30 years, says speeding is an issue in the area. The speed limit is 35 miles per hour.”

“Nobody goes 35 miles per hour,” he said.

Queen says there has been an uptick in accidents in recent years, particularly involving motorcyclists.

The crash is under investigation. Anyone with information can contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at (478) 751-7500 and ask to speak with a fatality investigator.

A GoFundMe has been created to help the family cover funeral expenses.
