MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigators and deputies arrested Joseph Peeler on Thursday in connection with a burglary of Jay’s Hope Foundation on Forsyth Street earlier this week.
Peeler was taken into custody at a nearby restaurant, where investigators say they discovered a suitcase containing items stolen from the nonprofit foundation.
According to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post, donated gift cards and checks belonging to Jay’s Hope were located inside a travel bag. The items will be returned to the organization.
The Jay’s Hope Foundation supports children with cancer and their families.
The burglary remains under investigation, according to deputies.
