MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Baldwin County School District has secured a three-year grant of more than $500,000 from the Georgia Department of Education and the FranklinCovey Foundation to implement the Leader in Me program across all schools in the district, targeting students from Pre-K through grade 12.

State leaders announced last year the leadership program, which saw success in Bibb County, would be going statewide.

According to a school district news release, the Leader in Me program aims to empower students with leadership and life skills, transforming school culture and enhancing academic achievements.

The initiative, which involves comprehensive training, coaching and materials, will impact thousands of students and staff over the next three years.

“Students are empowered to lead others and themselves to become the next generation of change-makers and problem-solvers,” the release stated.

This program is designed to build the personal and professional capacity of the entire school staff, equipping them to be leadership role models for students. According to FranklinCovey, “leadership is more than a position or title.”

“We are thrilled to bring the Leader in Me program to our schools,” Dr. Noris Price, Superintendent of Baldwin County Schools, said. “This program aligns with our mission and commitment to providing students with essential leadership and life skills, which will assist them in achieving their full potential.”

According to the district, FranklinCovey will provide ongoing support and resources, including professional development for teachers and staff, to ensure the program’s successful integration and sustainability.
