PEACH COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Motorists traveling southbound on Interstate 75 through Peach County this weekend should prepare for delays as Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) contractors begin an asphalt resurfacing project. The work will happen on the stretch from Mile Marker 149 to Mile Marker 155, impacting southbound lanes between Hartley Bridge Road and the Byron/Fort Valley exit.

Starting Thursday night, two of the three southbound lanes will be closed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night through Monday morning. In a media advisory, GDOT urged drivers to anticipate slowdowns and use increased caution when driving through the construction zone.

“Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones,” the advisory stated.

GDOT says real-time information on work status and traffic conditions is available by calling 511, by visiting 511ga.org or by downloading the Georgia 511 app.

Resurfacing dates may shift due to weather conditions or other unforeseen factors.
