Dozens arrested, thousands of dollars worth of drugs seized during ‘Operation Wrong Exit’ in Twiggs County

TWIGGS COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office, along with other law enforcement agencies, made more than 50 arrests during “Operation Wrong Exit” over St. Patrick’s weekend.
According to law enforcement, the operation aimed to reduce traffic-related deaths and injuries during the holiday weekend.
“We do what we can to make it as best as we can,” Sheriff Darren Mitchum said.
The operation, which lasted two days, resulted in 54 arrests, including a wanted suspect. Law enforcement seized about $93,000 worth of drugs.
According to the sheriff’s office, 26 pounds of marijuana, 5.5 kilos of methamphetamine, 11 ounces of ecstasy, a half ounce of cocaine/crack, four ounces of THC wax three grams of psilocybin (mushrooms) were confiscated.
In total, there were 45 misdemeanor drug charges, 12 felony drug charges and seven felony trafficking drugs charges.
