Macon man sentenced to 10 years in prison for 2018 armed robbery of McDonald’s
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Bibb County Superior Court judge sentenced a Macon man to prison on Monday after he pleaded guilty to the 2018 armed robbery of the McDonald’s on Gray Highway.
This is according to a news release from the Macon DA’s office.
According to the news release, 27-year-old Donte Sherrod Grayer pleaded guilty to the following:
- armed robbery
- aggravated assault
The judge sentenced Grayer to serve 20 years. However, he must serve the first 10 years in prison without the possibility of parole.
The incident
Prosecutors were prepared to argue the following from the incident:
- Grayer entered the McDonald’s at 550 Gray Highway at about 11 p.m. He pointed a gun at an employee while demanding to speak with the manager.
- The employee took Grayer to the manager to open the safe.
- Grayer forced the manager to open the safe.
- Grayer later fired the gun but injured no one. After taking the money from the safe, he left the restaurant.
- Employees heard a gunshot. Witnesses found Grayer shot in the leg by his own gun.
- When deputies arrived, Grayer was only wearing his boxers.
Authorities recovered the stolen money and the clothing matching the robber’s description.
