Kanaan Relieved Just To Be In Indy 500 Field
MIAMI – Tony Kanaan’s last few months have been wild.
His time with Andretti Autosport ended last year because 7-Eleven dropped its primary sponsorship of his car. He signed with another team, a deal that fell apart over a lack of funding.
Then he got yet another ride and has qualified 23rd for this weekend’s Indianapolis 500.
But his former Andretti team managed to get only three of itsfive drivers in the Indy field. Given all that has happened, Kanaan easily could take a victory lap. He says that’s not his style.
Kanaan chalks up the end of his time in the Andretti garage as just an unfortunate series of business developments. No hard feelings, he says – not when there’s an Indy 500 title to try and win.
