Bike Walk Macon awarded $55K to reduce pedestrian crashes
The educational programs will focus on teaching people to use crosswalks when out walking, be visible, and wear reflective clothing among other things.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bike Walk Macon, a local nonprofit organization that promotes walking and cycling as safe and healthy transportation options, has been awarded a grant of over $55 thousand from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.
The grant will be used to develop educational programs to help reduce the number of pedestrian crashes in Macon.
According to Kaylee Pruitt, Education and Engagement Manager at Bike Walk Macon, the organization seeks to help people get more comfortable and confident on their bikes.
The educational programs will focus on teaching people to use crosswalks when out walking, be visible, and wear reflective clothing among other things.
“We seek to help people get more comfortable and confident on their bikes,” said Pruitt.
Bike Walk Macon will have its next educational session in February, which will be a night cycling 101 class.
