UPDATE: Sheriff’s office releases new details on deadly Gray Highway crash

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says the Silverado driver was stable, while the Acura driver was not injured.

UPDATE (9/3/26): The crash that killed 78-year-old Cheryl Diane Reed involved three vehicles, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office says the crash happened at Gray Highway and Woodlawn Drive. According to a news release, Reed was traveling east on Gray Highway in a white Lexus when she collided with a tan Chevrolet Silverado.

The release also lists a black Acura SUV as being involved but does not explain how.

Paramedics took Reed and the Silverado driver to a local hospital. The Silverado driver was listed in stable condition. The Acura driver was not injured.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A 78-year-old Jones County woman died Thursday after a two-vehicle crash on Gray Highway, according to Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.

Jones identified the woman as Cheryl Diane Reed and said she’d have turned 79 on Sunday.

He says the crash happened in the 1300 block of Gray Highway around 1:39 p.m.

Jones said Reed was driving a Lexus IS 300 when she turned into the path of a small pickup truck.

According to Jones, Reed was taken to Atrium Health Navicent, where she was pronounced dead at 3:36 p.m.

He says her family has been notified.
