73-year-old Perry man killed in pedestrian crash on Highway 41 in Houston County

The Houston County Sheriff's Office Traffic Division is investigating.

PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A 73-year-old Perry man died after being struck by a vehicle Monday night on Highway 41 in Houston County, according to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office and the Houston County Coroner’s Office.

Houston County Coroner James Williams identified the victim as John David West of Perry.

According to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, the Houston County E-911 Center received a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at approximately 10:45 p.m. Monday on Highway 41 North, just south of the Highway 96 intersection. Deputies with the Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division responded to the scene.

Investigators said West had been struck by a 2011 Kia Sedona. The driver told deputies he was traveling north on Highway 41 when he did not see West walking south in the middle of the northbound lane.

West was pronounced dead at the scene by Emory EMS personnel, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Houston County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division is investigating the cause of the collision.
