38 Special headlining Warner Robins Independence Day celebration

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — You can jam out to southern rock this summer as 38 Special takes the stage at the 2014 Independence Day celebration in Warner Robins.

Mayor Randy Toms announced the band is headlining this year’s concert set for Thursday, July 3rd. Doors open at 6 p.m. at McConnell Talbert Stadium, and the show will start around 7 p.m. The concert is free.

Toms says the city is contributing $30,000 to the $120,000 annual event, and it’s worth every penny.

“This is a big deal, and it demonstrates the patriotism that our community has so I encourage everyone to get on board, and let’s make this thing a huge success,” says Toms.

The annual celebration also includes a fireworks show, and for the first time ever, there’s a 5K event set for midnight on July 4th.
