3 Macon-Bibb pools open this week as lifeguard shortage continues

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Just three Macon-Bibb pools will be open Tuesday through Saturday, June 8-12, due to the ongoing lifeguard shortage.

The county released the following schedule for the week:

South Bibb Recreation Center
Wednesday – Friday: 1:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Frank Johnson Recreation Center
Tuesday: 1:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Thursday: 1:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Delores A. Brooks Recreation Center
Tuesday- Wednesday: 1:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Friday: 1:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

A schedule for next week will be released as more lifeguards complete their training.

Pools at Bloomfield Recreation Center and Memorial Park Recreation Center remain closed due to the lifeguard shortage. The pool at the Booker T. Washington Community Center is closed for renovations. The county says it should open within the next few weeks.
