2014 Mercer football game times released; season ticket renewals extended

MACON, Ga. (MERCER RELEASE) – Mercer University Athletics released game times for the 2014 football season on Tuesday while also announcing an extension to the timeline for season ticket renewals.

Mercer’s seven-game 2014 home schedule starts with the season opener against Reinhardt on August 28 at 7 p.m. The Bears will also play an evening game against Furman the following week, kicking off the team’s Southern Conference debut at 6 p.m.

“We’re excited about getting our 2014 schedule underway with two exciting night games at home,” head coach Bobby Lamb said. “We’ll get it all started in a unique Thursday night game against Reinhardt, and then come back with our first SoCon game against Furman the following week.”

After the Furman game, the Bears hit the road to play at Stetson before returning to host Ave Maria at 6 p.m. on Sept. 20. The final four home games of the season against Austin Peay (Oct. 10), Western Carolina (Oct. 18), The Citadel (Nov. 1) and Warner (Nov. 15) are all slated for 4 p.m. kickoffs.

The department also announced the deadline for season ticket renewals has been extended through Wednesday, May 7 in response to overwhelming demand. After the deadline passes, season ticket purchases will be made available to the general public beginning Monday, May 19.

“The demand for season ticket renewals has been so strong that we decided to extend the deadline to ensure that everyone who had a package last season will be accommodated this year,” Mercer Director of Athletics Jim Cole said. “We expect the conversion rate from last year’s season ticket holders to be near 100% and are excited about the demand we anticipate seeing when packages are released to the general public.”

2013 season ticket holders can renew their packages by clicking here or calling the Mercer Box Office at (478) 301-5460. Details on single-game ticketing options will be released in the coming months.
