19-year-old injured at Kuhmo Tire facility in Macon

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A contractor is in critical condition at the hospital after falling from the ceiling at the Kumho Tire facility.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says 19-year-old Luis Ramirez was working construction on a ceiling inside the building, then as he tried walking across the walkway, he fell to the ground.
The location of the incident was 3051 Kumho Parkway in Macon, off of Hawkinsville Road.

Construction at the Kumho Tire plant began last year after years of delay from the 2008 recession. Kumho Tire leaders invested $413 million into the new plant that’s set to open in 2016.
