16-year-old wins first stock car race

COCHRAN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Bleckley County teenager won his first stock car race Saturday at Cochran Motor Speedway.

16-year-old of Will Fordham of Cochran took the top spot in the Junior Enduro class, beating out Ridge McCoy, Taylor Herringdine and Parker Martin.

Macon’s Jordy Nipper won the Late Model race, holding off Dennis McDaniel and Caleb Gay.

In Sportsman, the top three finishers were Monte Vaughn, Eric Baggett and Tony Head.

Kyle Conyer won Super Street. Justin Sapp was second and Don gay was third.

In the Pure Stock race, it was Colby Giddens taking the checkered flag. Wiley McDaniel Jr. was second and Brandon McCarra came home third.

Jimmy Haynes won Bomber, beating Matthew Davis and Jeffrey Yates for the win.

The speedway will host a 2-day event on September 18 and 19.

Heat races and qualifying for Sportsman, Street Stock, Bomber, Pure Stock and the Southern Thunder Late Model Series are scheduled for Friday with races on Saturday.
