Wreaths Across America at historic Riverside Cemetery

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Riverside Cemetery was among the more than 900 cemeteries taking part in this year’s “Wreaths Across America” ceremony.

Wreaths were laid on veterans’ graves during simultaneous services around the nation.

U.S. Air Force, Degree Knights of Columbus Honor Guard Assembly 175, Patriot Guard Riders of Georgia, Cub and Boy Scout troops joined local residents to honor fallen military men and women.

The commander of Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex at Robins Air Force Base, Brigadier General Walter J. Lindsley served as keynote speaker.

Wreaths were presented to represent the Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Merchant Marines and POW/MIA.

“It’s a great opportunity to take part in a wonderful ceremony to honor those who’ve gone before us and paved the path and paved the way for all of us, for our freedoms we enjoy today,” says Brigadier General Lindsley.

Bryan Johnson was at the event with a group of cub and boy scout troops.

“I’m here at Riverside Cemetery to show my respect to all the veterans here,” says Johnson.
