Man falls into crusher, dies at Diamond Plastics Corporation in Macon
41NBC/WMGT (WMGT) – A man fell into a crusher and died at Diamond Plastics Corporation in South Macon Wednesday morning.
Lt. Randy Gonzales with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said the Macon-Bibb Fire Department responded to the scene on Industrial Hwy around 8 a.m.
First responders found a male employee had fallen into a crusher and a pipe fell on top of him. Crushers at the plant are used to crush pipes, but it was turned off when the man fell in.
After the fire department spent nearly an hour trying to rescue the employee, Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley pronounced him dead around 8:50 a.m.
Lt. Gonzales says a fellow employee was the first to discover the man.
The man’s identity won’t be released until his family is notified.
