MONROE COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Macon woman faces charges after deputies say she stole a truck and led them on a chase from Forsyth into Macon on Monday.

According to a Monroe County Sheriff’s Office incident report, 37-year-old Tiffany McMurray was first spotted fleeing Forsyth police in a silver Camaro around 5:20 p.m. The sheriff’s office did not reveal why the initial chase, involving the Camaro, started.

Investigators said she abandoned the Camaro at a BP gas station on Tift College Drive, where she asked a man for a ride before getting into his Chevrolet Silverado and driving away.

A Monroe County deputy wrote in the report that the stolen truck was seen on I-75 southbound, weaving through traffic and nearly causing several crashes before eventually exiting onto Bass Road and then Riverside Drive.

According to the report, after a Georgia game warden joined the pursuit, the deputy used a PIT maneuver to stop the truck. McMurray was eventually placed in handcuffs and taken into custody.

McMurray was booked into the Monroe County Jail and charged with hijacking a motor vehicle and fleeing or attempting to elude police.
