Macon woman hit by falling bullet in front yard

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Macon woman went to the hospital because a falling bullet hit her in the arm Monday around 10:30 p.m.

It happened on Willingham Court.

37-year-old Arisa Curtis was sitting in the front yard when the bullet hit her.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says they don’t know where it came from.

The round could have been from someone firing a gun into the air.

“A bullet fired into the air, must come down, often at nearly the same velocity as when it left the gun barrel,” said Bibb County Sheriff David Davis. “You don’t want to leave a celebration cuffed in the back of a patrol car, headed to jail.  Celebrating with gunfire is not only dangerous, it is illegal, can lead to innocent deaths and injury and can also cause damage to property.  The victim this weekend was lucky, if the bullet had of landed a few inches over, her injury may have been a lot more serious, even fatal.”
