Winter temperatures finally arrive in Middle Georgia

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – After a full week into the new season temperatures will finally drop below average.

While the day started off cloudy conditions have been clearing through the afternoon. There has been plenty of wind as well with gusts reaching 30+ mph in a handful of Middle Georgia locations. The wind will slow some tonight, however gusts could still reach to 20-25 mph. Sustained speeds will likely range from 10-15 mph. Temperatures will drop to around freezing by midnight with out the door conditions likely to be in the mid to upper 20s. Dripping the faucets would be a good idea as well as bringing in any outdoor pets/small plants.

A fully sunny day is expected Tuesday however it will be quite cool as many high temperatures will be below 50 degrees. There will still be plenty of wind out of the northwest with sustained speeds ranging from 7-15 mph and gusts pushing upwards of 25 mph.

Overnight will be clear and frigid once again with expected low temperatures in the mid 20s for much of the region. Finally the wind will be a bit slower but still out of the north-northwest. Gusts could reach to around 15 mph.

Plenty of sunshine will remain around Georgia through the rest of the week. Temperatures will remain chilly for a few days before climbing ahead of the weekend. Rain odds should also remain down until late Friday.
