Willie James Pye executed in Georgia
Willie James Pye was executed Wednesday at 11:03 p.m. at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Center in Jackson.

JACKSON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Willie James Pye was executed Wednesday at 11:03 p.m. at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Center in Jackson.
That’s according to a news release from the Office of Attorney General Chris Carr.
“The lawfully ordered execution of Willie James Pye for the 1993 kidnapping, robbery, rape, and murder of Alicia Lynn Yarbrough was carried out this evening at 11:03 p.m. at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Center in Jackson, Georgia,” the release stated.
Earlier Wednesday night, the U.S. Supreme Court denied Pye’s final appeals, clearing the way for the state to proceed with his execution. Pye is the first person to be executed in Georgia since January 2020.
