Wilcox County Patriots coming off consecutive 3-win seasons

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – It’s been 15 years for Wilcox County head coach Mark Ledford patrolling the sidelines. And after six straight years of 10 or more wins, his team is now coming off consecutive 10-loss seasons.

The Patriots will have six players coming back for the offense in 2015, which needs to get better after only averaging slightly over 14 points a game. Coach Ledford will need to replace his quarterback, and has an idea who could be the perfect candidate – his own son, Landon.

There will be five returning athletes for the defense, which allowed 25.3 points a game in 2014. Coach Ledford says he’ll be switching to a 3-5 defensive scheme, and they’ll have 6’3″, 190 lbs. Antwan Benjamin returning to play as a strong safety.

The first game for Wilcox County will be August 28th against Dooly County. They’ll play defending state champion Hawkinsville the following week.
