Westside Cheers on Kareem Jackson

Seminoles were in high spirits Tuesday, as 2006 Westside High School football star Kareem Jackson made his way back to Macon.  He came home to celebrate his new job of playing for the NFL.

“Just the whole city of Macon, to all my friends in the crowd, even if you don’t know me and you cheered for me, I appreciate everything that you’ve done,” said Jackson Tuesday at Westside High School.

It was a sea of maroon and gold as the Westside family cheered on one of their own.  Last week, Jackson was drafted to play for the Houston Texans.  Even though he’s a rookie to the NFL, he’s expected to be Houston’s starting right cornerback.  Jackson told the crowd, his accomplishments come from the support of his family.

“Kareem is a good boy.  I wish my wide could have had a hundred boys just like him, we can’t save all of them, but we can save one,” said Hezekiah Jackson, Kareem’s Father.

To honor the Westside alum, the school handed Jackson the “key to Westside” and they retired his high school number five.  Jackson will sport number 25 for the Texans.
