UPDATE: Woman dies weeks after Westminister Drive shooting

Deputies say the 24-year-old victim died from injuries suffered in the shooting earlier this month.

UPDATE (5/18/26): A woman has died after a shooting earlier this month on Westminister Drive, and the man accused of shooting her is now charged with murder.

According to an update from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Coroner Leon Jones told deputies 24-year-old Alasia Smith died from her injuries.

29-year-old Anthony Allen is now charged with felony murder.


UPDATE (5/5/26): Deputies say a man is now in custody in connection with a shooting Tuesday that left a woman in critical condition.

According to an update from the sheriff’s office, 29-year-old Anthony Allen is facing charges of aggravated assault family violence and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Deputies identified the victim as 24-year-old Alasia Smith and said her family has been notified.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A woman is in critical condition after a shooting Tuesday afternoon on Westminister Drive.

According to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release, deputies responded just before 5 p.m. to the 1500 block of Westminister Drive, which is near Mercer University Drive.

That’s where deputies found a 24-year-old with a gunshot wound inside a home. Deputies say the shooting happened during a domestic dispute.

The woman was taken to a local hospital and is listed in critical condition.

According to the release, a 29-year-old man was taken to the Criminal Investigation Division for questioning.
