WCSO searches for woman in connection to child cruelty case
ABBEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Wilcox County Sheriff’s Office released information Monday morning concerning an active search for a suspect in a child cruelty case that fled after search warrants were served.
According to the WCSO, the sheriff’s office received a report of a possible child cruelty case on October 14, in response, the Gateway Center interviewed the children in question and a search warrant was executed on the residence connected to the case. It was found that one of the children had been beaten with a prybar.
Warrants were secured on the mother, who the WCSO is actively seeking as she has fled the area. The WCSO says that the mother’s name is not going to be released in order to protect the children. More charges are pending as the case is investigated.
