Washington County deputies make arrests after Monday night shooting

Deputies say the victim told them he was ambushed while sitting inside his vehicle along Highway 68 South.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A 19-year-old Tennille man and a 17-year-old girl have been arrested in connection with a shooting reported late Monday night in Washington County.

According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called just before 11 p.m. to a reported shooting in the 12000 block of Highway 68 South. Investigators later met the 18-year-old male victim, who is from Milledgeville, at the Washington County Regional Medical Center emergency department.

According to the sheriff’s office, the victim told deputies he was sitting inside his vehicle at a home on Highway 68 South when he was ambushed by a masked gunman. He fled the scene while shots were fired. The victim was struck once, and his vehicle was hit multiple times by gunfire.

Deputies and investigators recovered several shell casings from the scene.

After the investigation, deputies arrested 19-year-old Namaj Dontrez Williams of Tennille, who was identified as the shooter. A 17-year-old girl from Tennille was also arrested on Tuesday.

Jail records Tuesday night listed Williams’ charges as pending. The 17-year-old was not listed in jail records.

The investigation remains active.
