Washington County Sheriff’s Office holding raffle to support injured Deputy Gordon Alley

SANDERSVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Washington County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday it’s holding a raffle to support Deputy Gordon Alley, who was injured in a car accident while on duty and is now paralyzed below the waist.

The raffle, which starts on August 5, willl run for four weeks, with tickets priced at $25 each. All proceeds will benefit Deputy Alley, who is undergoing inpatient treatment at Sheppard Spine Center in Atlanta.

There will be two prize drawings each weekday during the raffle period. On the first three Fridays, a gun will be among the prizes, and on the fourth Friday, there will be drawings for two guns and other prizes. Each ticket will be re-entered into the drawing bin after each win. Prizes are being donated by sponsors.

To purchase tickets, message the Washington County Sheriff’s Office on Facebook or contact any deputy. Raffle ticket payments can also be made via CashApp to $deputymcgraw or Venmo to @wcso435. Include your mailing address.

“Your support will make a meaningful difference for Deputy Alley and his family during this challenging time,” Sheriff Joel Cochran in a Facebook post.

A benefit lunch was organized last month by the sheriff’s office, Pastor Scott Ferguson and Sandersville Community Church to help Deputy Alley’s family with rising medical costs. The lunch, held at the former Direct Furniture building in Sandersville, featured chicken quarters with sides and dessert.

Deputy Alley was injured in a single-vehicle crash on June 3 while responding to a call for assistance.
