Washington County man shot and killed over the Labor Day weekend

SANDERSVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Tennille man is dead and his alleged killer is behind bars charged with murder.

The fatal shooting happened Sunday approximately 3:30 a.m., at 513 Carver St., according to GBI Special Agent in Charge Scott Whitley.

“Initial investigation revealed that there was an altercation between Derrick Jamal Kitchens and another man who in turn shot Kitchens,” said Whitley.

 Sandersville Police Department requested GBI assistance with the investigation

Kitchens, 31, of Tennille, was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.

Quintarus Henderson, 27, of Sandersville has been  arrested and charged with one count of Murder.

Sandersville Police and the GBI were assisted in the investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles.

“The investigation is ongoing,” added Whitley.
