Washington County Schools approves new head football coach
Ware comes to Sandersville from Cedartown High School after school board approval.

SANDERSVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Washington County High School has a new head football coach.
According to a Facebook post from Washington County Public Schools on Friday, the school board has approved Jay Ware to fill the position left after the departure of coach Robert Edwards. Edwards went 20-24 in four seasons.
The post said Ware was in Washington County Friday spending time visiting the campus and community.
“I am extremely excited to be the Head Football Coach at Washington County High School,” Ware said in an included statement. “My family and I are looking forward to being a part of this program.”
Ware was recently an assistant coach at Cedartown High School, according to that school’s football website.
According to the Georgia High School Football Historians Association, Ware is Washington County High School’s 15th head football coach. The program has qualified for the postseason every year since 2008.
