Fire alarm triggers evacuation at Washington County High School
All students and staff are safe after a fire alarm at Washington County High School caused by smoke from malfunctioning equipment

SANDERSVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A fire alarm at Washington County High School triggered a midday evacuation on Tuesday after a piece of cafeteria equipment malfunctioned.
According to a Washington County High School Facebook post, smoke set off the fire alarm and sprinkler system. All students and staff are safe, and no injuries were reported.
Students completed their lunches in alternate locations while clean-up efforts were underway. The school expects to resume normal food service by Wednesday.
“The safety of our students and staff remains our first priority,” the school stated in the post.
