Warner Robins woman to hold a yard sale for late brother’s family

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A week after a car accident claimed the life of her younger brother, one Warner Robins woman is putting together a community event to help raise for his children.

Three-year-old Eliza isn’t shy and she’s full of energy.
Her mom Kristen and her Aunt Lissa say she gets it from her dad Cody.
“Cody was a jokester. He loved to make people laugh. He supported me through a hard time in my life with that specialty,” Lissa said.
Tragically, Cody died in a car accident in Macon this month. Lissa says her younger brother was a great parent with a big heart.

“He loved his children. He loved everybody else’s children. I have two daughters and he spent a lot of time with them and overall he was just a genuine, good person,” Lissa said.
Eliza, her six-year-old brother Anthony, and Kristen now need help getting back on their feet. Money is tight. Kristen has a seasonal job and is worried about what she and the kids will do moving forward.

“I can’t really think of a better way to do it than to have a yard sale and offer the money that comes from that to Kristen and the kids,” Lissa said.
Since she posted it on Facebook, Lissa says she has received an overwhelming response from the entire community.
“A huge outreach…a couple of different churches, several friends and other family members as well as strangers have come in,” Lissa said.
Although this is the season of giving, Lissa is looking to help raise money for Kristen and the kids to last after the holidays.
“For other things like bills, daycare, transportation obviously given the situation with the accident,” Kristen said.
The family says it’s the kind words, the support, and the community rallying around them that gives them strength.
“I just truly appreciate everything and it really touches my heart and my family’s heart for people to come out and do something like this,” Lissa said.

The yard sale to help Kristen and her kids is next Friday and Saturday, December 19 and 20 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
