WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The City of Warner Robins canceled both its Winter Bazaar and its in-person Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Thursday because of the forecast for inclement weather.

Temperatures remained in the 40s Thursday with rain expected through the afternoon.

The city says the Winter Bazaar was scheduled to take place from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Perkins Park, but the weather will prevent the traditional gathering.

The city also canceled Thursday night’s in-person tree lighting ceremony. Instead, the official lighting will be streamed on Facebook Live at 6:15 p.m. on the City of Warner Robins Government page.

“Although the weather isn’t working in our favor, we remain committed to bringing joy and holiday cheer to our community,” Mayor LaRhonda Patrick said. “Moving the lighting online allows families to still take part in the tradition without compromising their safety.”

City officials said a final decision about the Christmas Parade, scheduled for Saturday, will be announced Friday at 1 p.m.
