WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The City of Warner Robins has amended its curfew regulations for minors, enforcing a new curfew from 11:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The change, unanimously approved at the May 20 Mayor and Council meeting, affects all minors aged 17 and under, according to a city news release.

“Parents and guardians will be held responsible for ensuring their children adhere to this curfew,” the release stated.

“Keeping minors off the streets during late-night hours is crucial for their safety and well-being,” Police Chief Wayne Fisher said. “The new curfew helps ensure that our young residents are not exposed to potential dangers that are more prevalent late at night.”

Mayor LaRhonda Patrick says curfews are put in place not only for the protection of minors but also the overall safety of the community.

“By ensuring that minors are home during these hours, we are taking a proactive step in maintaining a secure environment for everyone in Warner Robins,” she said.

The city is seeking the cooperation of local businesses to help enforce the regulations. Businesses are encouraged to work with law enforcement to ensure minors are not present during curfew hours unless accompanied by an adult.

The move follows a reminder the city issued last month about its previous curfew, which was in place for those 17 and under between 12 a.m. and 5 a.m., and follows a recent uptick in violence among youth in the city.

“The City of Warner Robins remains committed to the welfare of its residents and will continue to implement measures that enhance public safety,” the release stated.
