Warner Robins police K9 to get protective vest
Rasty has been with the department for five years. He is the first K9 to receive a safety protective vest.
“It’s great that he’s getting a protective vest because we deploy with the SWAT team and he’s more likely to face people that want to hurt him,” Rasty’s handler Sgt. James Bish said. “Rasty is an officer just like I am, so it’s nice to have that protection.”
The fundraiser raised more than $335,000 to outfit more than 350 law enforcement dogs nationwide with the protective body armor. This is in memory of K9 Rocco of the Pittsburgh Police Department who sacrificed his life in the line of duty in January 2014.
