Warner Robins Police investigate shooting incident, three injured
According to a news release, 29-year-old Rashaad Simmons, 23-year-old Kenneth Hammonds and 24-year-old Xavier Hawkins were shot at 444 Alabama Avenue around 2:00 a.m.
All three victims, Hawkins’ family members and friend gathered around the garage to play a game of cards during the time of the incident.
None of the victims wanted to speak; however, Hawkins’ sister, Shantess Hart tells 41NBC’s Taylor Terrell the shooting came unexpectedly, because she along with Hawkins, another brother and their mother recently moved into the home.
Hart claims two other men were with the shooter during the time of the incident. She adds it’s not uncommon to hear gunfire in her neighborhood, but didn’t think her family would fall victim to a shooting incident.
Neighbor Curtis Myricks lives across the street. He says he feared for the life of his 7-month-old daughter, and fiancé.
“[The] bullet could’ve went anywhere. A bullet don’t have no name on it,” says Myricks.
Hart says when bullets started flaring, everyone outside rushed indoors, leaving the home’s walls and floors covered in blood.
She adds she’s thankful this incident did not turn fatal, but her family wants answers in the case.
Simmons was taken to the Medical Center of Central Georgia. The other two victims refused treatment.
Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call Detective Rozier with the Criminal Investigations Division of the Warner Robins Police Department at 478-302-5380.
