WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Residents gathered at City Hall Thursday for a National Day of Prayer ceremony featuring singing and sermons in recognition of the annual observance.

The ceremony opened with the pledge of allegiance, led by 100-year-old World War II veteran John Manning. Manning reflected on the significance of the moment and the importance of prayer for the country.

“She always calls on me to do the pledge of allegiance,” Manning said. “I feel honored to do that. Our nation needs prayers for all its people. And Lord, I’m blessed to be a part of this world, and this country, and this community.”

The National Day of Prayer is recognized on the first Thursday in May each year.
