Warner Robins mayor and council table Walmart decision

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Warner Robins mayor and council have tabled the discussion on whether a new neighborhood Walmart should be built in the city.  This means they neither denied or approved the retail giant’s rezoning plan.

A spokesman for the company argued the benefits of having a store near White Road and Highway 41.  Glen Wilkins adds there are some residents who would like the convenience of having a Walmart near their homes.

“Retail is the time that we get to choose to go out and shop and purchase for our families. The less time I have to drive to do that shopping that’s necessary, the better it is, because that’s more time I get to spend with at home,” explains Wilkins.

Some residents have signed petitions hoping to stop the project.

Mayor Randy Toms and council members are expected to discuss this topic again at their next meeting.
