Warner Robins Mayor, Council Members Take Oath of Office

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Warner Robins officially welcomed its new mayor, Randy Toms, as he took his oath of office Monday evening.

There was standing room only at the event. Toms’ family and distinguished guests got seats inside the council chamber, while dozens of others spilled out into the hallway to support the new mayor.

While he was already officially sworn in, Toms told 41NBC he was excited for his family, and the community to be there.

One of his first goals as mayor is to change the atmosphere in the city.

“There’s been some moral issues throughout the city employees, so I want to go in, I want to get to know them. I want to do what I can to increase the moral in the city employees. I want to find some projects that we can get on and do quickly within the city so that the people of Warner Robins, the citizens of Warner Robins know that we mean what we say when we’re going to get things done,” said Toms.

Along with the mayor, former mayors Clifford Holmes and Chuck Shaheen took their oaths of office as councilmen for Posts 5 and 1 (respectively).

Political newcomer, Keith Lauritsen, was also sworn in as a councilman for Post 3.
