Warner Robins business prepares for state championship game

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – As the Rome Wolves and Warner Robins Demons prepare for the 5A State Championship Game this Friday, businesses are preparing too.

Graphic Guys in Warner Robins, is used to making t-shirts for local schools, including Warner Robins High School. However, this time, they have made a little more than they normally do.

That’s because of the game being moved to the McConnell-Talbert Stadium. The Rome against Warner Robins game was supposed to be at the Mercedez-Benz stadium in Atlanta last Friday, but it got moved to the “MAC” this Friday.

“It got snowed out and so when I got the news that they were going to play at home next weekend, I was so excited because I just finished finals and I knew I was going to come home and go to the game,” said Warner Robins HS alumna, Carolina Smith.

Smith also ended up coming home to helping her dad make more t-shirts, at their business, Graphic Guys.

“Last week we were going to the Benz, to play there, we made a T-shirt for that and when the game got cancelled, we came back and got back on the drawing board and designed a shirt for playing back at the MAC,” said Scott Ethridge, President of the Touchdown Club.

The Touchdown Club is a Warner Robins High School fundraising club. They sold about 500 shirts with the words “SEE YOU IN ATLANTA”. With the game being re-scheduled, they had to re-make shirts, saying “Back to the MAC”.

Smith and her family did not mind making them.

“To have a hand in that, is just really cool just to feel like you’re really part of your community,” said Smith. “Building something exciting, for us to all be part of on Friday for these football players.”

Smith and the rest of the community is ready to cheer on the Demons, and hopefully make more shirts.

“Ideally, we’ll have all of these shirts ready to go, that will say Warner Robins 5A State Champions. For the players, for the cheerleaders and the parents, and also, for all of us that are big demon fans and proud alumni,” said Smith.

The Touchdown Club is also selling yard signs that say, “Demon Country”, for $15.

All of the money raised, will go to the school’s new weight room.

As far as tickets go, you can’t buy them until game day. You will have to get them at 6:45 OM on Friday for $20-dollars. Those who did buy tickets to the game in Atlanta, your tickets will be honored at the Mconnell-Talbert Stadium.
