Warner Robins Animal Control Receives Grant for Spaying and Neutering

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – If you’re interested in adopting a pet for the holidays, now is the perfect time to get one in Warner Robins.

The Warner Robins Police Department recently received a grant from the Georgia Department of Agriculture for $7,500.

“The way that we’ve used this grant is to help fund the spay and neuter procedures for all adoptions that come from the Warner Robins Animal Control facility,” Tabitha Pugh, Public Information Officer for the Warner Robins Police Department, said.

She says since the facility received the grant, more than 60 people have went home with a pet.

Spaying and neutering is priority number one at the facility.

“We want to make sure that the population does not increase to where it’s an overwhelming amount. We always promote responsible pet ownership,” Pugh said.

“People usually are very responsible. Especially since Warner Robins Animal Control has been a very big voice within the community. Rescue groups and people that just love animals and Warner Robins Animal Control is very revered within that community,” she said.

When you pick your pet, there are two veterinarians in town that’ll do the procedure.

“So when you decide which animal you want to select, you just come down here, you’ll look at the animal and make sure that’s the one you want. You’ll come in, do the $20 adoption fee, and then you’ll have to sign the contract making sure that they are spay and neutered, and then that way you’ll receive your spay and neuter certificate,” Pugh said.

Warner Robins Animal control is also putting micro chips in your adopted animal for free.
