Warmer Weather This Week
MACON, Georgia. (41NBC/WMGT) Happy Tuesday, Middle Georgia! It’s going to be a beautiful day in the Heart of Georgia. Some clouds this morning will give way to mostly clear skies by afternoon. Our high yesterday was 84 degrees, a little cooler thanks to more cloud cover. A ridge of high pressure will be stationed over the southeast this week. High pressure systems are associated with sinking air. As air sinks, it compresses and heats. For this reason, we will see temperatures rise into the upper 80’s and 90’s this week. Today’s high temperature will be 87.
Both Wednesday and Thursday, temperatures will reach the 90 degree mark. As we prepare for these hot conditions in the next two days, you may want to consider packing extra water to drink throughout the day so that you do not become dehydrated in this late spring heat. Also, if you plan on being outdoors tomorrow for an extensive amount of time, wear sunscreen and reapply it often. The UV Index for tomorrow will be very high.
Clouds will increase heading into Friday, though it looks like just partly cloudy skies to end your work week. Unfortunately, the chance for storms remains in the forecast for your holiday weekend. Right now, I’m keeping the rain chance at 30% for Saturday, Sunday and Monday (Memorial Day). The models are showing a low pressure system approaching the Georgia coastline Saturday afternoon, which will increase moisture and destabilize the atmosphere – allowing storms to form. I expect any storms that occur this weekend to be isolated/scattered in nature. However, I’ll keep an eye on it and bring you all the latest updates on 41 Daybreak, 41 Today and all of our 41NBC social media sites. Be sure to download the 41 First Alert Weather App in the Google Play and App Stores – it’s always free from 41NBC! I hope you all have a great day!
